STARRY NIGHT pastel on paper
The instantly recognizable, Starry Night. One of Van Gogh's finest works, and an enjoyable study in pastel from the early days. It is one of three pastels that survived a small fire. I think I lost about twenty pastels and ten large sketches. Here the light colors on a dark background technique works very effectively, helped along with the movement of the lines.
